Diane's Profile

I'm almost 51 years old. After being cancer free for 8 years, the beast is back. I originally fought breast cancer in 2010. I found a lump in mid August, 2010 and started the doctor visits a week later. Ultimately, there were two separate masses, .7 cm and .8 cm, in separate quadrants of the same breast. I completed a bilateral mastectomy on 11/22/10 with tissue expanders inserted at the same time. I was Stage 1A. No lymph node involvement. I completed expansion and had my swap out surgery on 4/21/2011. I had a revision surgery on 9/29/2011. I did not have nipple reconstruction. I had flowers tattooed on my new girls, over my scars, to reclaim my breasts as mine. Best decision ever. I had a mild lymphedema diagnosis in June, 2012 (so, yes, it can happen with only 3 nodes removed!). Current mass is .7 cm and in the same breast it was before. Signs point to a local recurrence as opposed to mets (although I have two scans left this week). I never thought I would be back as a fighter. But here I am, to fight another round. I got married last year to the man of my dreams. My sons are 25 and 20 now and my sweet grandson is 6. A shout out to Jill, the owner/manager of this Blog. This place saved my sanity, and I've found so many wonderful people on this site. :) It's my home away from home.

Yes. 2019

2019 - new mass in left breast. 2010- None - I found a lump, which turned out to by a cyst. That cyst was hiding one of the cancer tumors. The other tumor was closer to my chest wall.
